My work is based on the themes of loneliness, family, alienation, and relationships. While using visual symbols of cuteness, I use classical techniques to make the motifs stand out even more. The deformed motifs, which are far from realistic, are generally rounded, and all are sexually undifferentiated. The bipedal cat, which appears in many of my works, is presented as an animal but wears a certain humanity, oscillating between impulse and socially acquired restraint. The taciturn motifs have their mouths knit into a single line, and only their eyes tell their stories. To avoid projecting any unnecessary emotion, the I have tried to portray the eyes as inorganic. This strong attachment to the eyes is deeply related to the fact that I have had a strong attachment to the eyes since my childhood when I was drawing pictures and was not good at expressing myself using words. The simple composition, which I often use to divide the picture plane into two large strips, brings a sense of stillness to the picture plane and emphasizes its flatness. By applying four or five primary colors in layers, I have achieved an oil painting-like quality of expression despite the fact that the support is made of paper, giving the entire work depth and presence.
私は「孤独」「家族」「疎外」「人間関係」をテーマに作品の制作を行う。
可愛らしさという視覚的な記号を用いながらも古典的な技法を用い、一層モチーフを際立たせている。写実とはかけ離れたデフォルメの効いたモチーフは全体的に丸みを帯びており、どれも性的に未分化な存在である。
猫の顔は人間の顔にとても近い構造である。２足歩行の猫は多くの作品に登場し、動物として提示されながらも確かな人間性を纏っており、衝動と社会性により身についた抑制の間で揺れ動く。
寡黙なモチーフたちは口を一文字に結び、目だけが物語を語る。制作者の余計な感情を投影しないよう、あえてその目は無機質に描くことを心がけた。目に対する強いこだわりは幼少期に絵を描いていた頃より兼ね備えており、言葉を用いて表現することが苦手だったこともこの表現と深く関係している。
しばしば用いる画面を２本の帯で大きく分割するシンプルな構図は、画面に静寂をもたらし、平面性を強調している。
色を原色で4色、5色と塗り重ねることで、支持体が紙でありながらも油絵のような重厚な表現を可能にし、全体に深みと存在感を出している。
